A one-of-a-kind concert-salon blending Somali Qaraami blues and European-rooted Yiddish folk brings Twin Cities communities together

The popular Twin Cities Eastern European folk band Red Thread, led by Sarah Larsson meets the new Somali band Ardaa. Led by the writer Ahmed Yusuf, Ardaa is committed to reviving Qaraami songs beloved in Somalia before its Civil War and especially to transmitting them to a younger generation. In this extraordinary concert-salon the bands play side-by-side in separate sets, and then together in an improvised set blending the music styles. The concert is designed to welcome all Minnesotans and features a post show socia period with refreshments.
