Sarah (Jagoda/O’Brien/Goldstein) Larsson is devoted to using folk traditions and participatory communal music to enact social healing and build a flourishing community. Sarah is the frontwoman of Red Thread and a member of The Nightingale Trio.
Sarah teaches music, speaks publicly, and organizes cultural activities that gather people of all backgrounds can experience rich, joyful expressions of cultural art. These spaces are informed by radical interdependence, have no barriers to entry, and offer participants permission to be active participants in evolving and growing cultural traditions.
With Red Thread, Sarah has appeared alongside GRAMMY-winning The Klezmatics at the Dakota Jazz Club, and has performed solo with Lisa Gutkin (New York), Lemon Bucket Orkestra (Toronto), Kommuna Lux (Odesa), Klezmer Três Rios (Sao Paulo), and Maryna Krut (Kyiv). Sarah’s teachers include National Heritage Fellows Ethel Raim, Michael Alpert, and Flory Jagoda (z”l), and she has studied vocal music traditions in Serbia, Romania, Bulgaria, Greece, and Bosnia-Hercegovina.
